Program Overview

Neurocare Foundation Nepal successfully organized a one-day Free Neurosurgical Health Check-Up Camp to provide specialized care and raise awareness on neurological conditions within the Gokarneshwor community. The initiative focused on early identification of common neurological disorders and facilitating access to further diagnostic and treatment services.

• Deliver free neurological consultations to underserved populations
• Educate the public on symptoms and prevention of neurological illnesses
• Refer patients requiring further investigation or specialized intervention

Camp Highlights

Total Beneficiaries: 98 Patients
• Neurosurgery Team:
o Prof. Dr. Gopal Raman Sharma

• Support Staff: 6 nurses and 10 volunteers
• Target Patients: Individuals presenting with headaches, seizures, Parkinsonism, neuropathy, stroke recovery, and other neurological complaints
• Free Medicine supplies

Services Offered

• One-on-one consultations with neurologists

• Blood pressure and blood sugar screening

• Neurological examinations and risk assessments

• Counseling on early signs and symptoms of neurological disorders

• Referrals for imaging (MRI/CT) and advanced care where necessary

Services
Outcomes

• 75 patients diagnosed with early-stage neurological issues
• 50 patients referred for neuroimaging and specialized evaluation
• Community-wide increase in awareness of neurological health
• Strong engagement and appreciation from local residents and authorities

Participant Feedback

Feedback collected from attendees revealed a high level of satisfaction. Many individuals were unaware of their symptoms' neurological relevance and valued the opportunity for early screening. Participants and community leaders expressed keen interest in more frequent and accessible neurology outreach programs.

Conclusion and Next Steps

The camp served as a meaningful step toward addressing neurological health disparities in Nepal. It highlighted the demand for specialized outreach and community-based intervention models. In response to its success, Neurocare Foundation Nepal plans to expand the initiative to additional municipalities in the coming months.
